Adam D'Angelo and Charlie Cheever founded Quora in June 2009. The website was made available to the public in 2010. D'Angelo and Cheever were both employees of Facebook but decided to leave the company after they brainstormed a new company idea. The idea of Quora started when D'Angelo and Cheever realized that although there were question and answer websites all over the internet, no site was interactive or "broad" enough to answer a variety of questions. Quora was created so that anyone asking questions could get an educated answer.
